Liquid Chlorophyll

Good morning to all the friends of the Testaccio Herbalist's shop. Finally, after a long time, I find myself writing an article that I believe and hope will be of great interest to everyone.

This time I want to focus on an organic structure of great and important interest: the chlorophyll.

There chlorophyll it is a green pigment present in almost all plants, algae and some bacteria; It has the aim of making the plant absorb the light energy necessary for the synthesis of carbohydrates after it has transformed the carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air into oxygen (O2) and water (H2O).

Due to its structure similar to human hemoglobin (in chlorophyll a magnesium atom replaces an iron atom in hemoglobin) it is also called "green blood" or "vegetable blood".

As a food, this pigment is found in spinach, arugula, parsley, green beans, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, chicory, lettuce and spirulina algae. This molecule is used as a colorant in food and pharmaceutical products.

There chlorophyll It has a functional significance due to its anti-anemic and antioxidant properties:

  • in women: during pregnancy and breastfeeding or with heavy menstruation with decreased iron levels, it significantly increases hemoglobin and hematocrit values; combined with other food supplements, it significantly reduces hair loss and in many cases stops it within 3 months,
  • stimulates the metabolism and gives energy, especially in times of stress and overwork, without being an exciting substance like caffeine,
  • regenerates cells because it brings oxygen and strengthens their walls,
  • helps to deal with particular intellectual and physical efforts in the field of study, in the professional field and in endurance sports (increases muscle mass),
  • intervenes, as a catalyst, in various metabolic processes by accelerating chemical reactions within the cell,
  • purifies the body as it improves and prevents the harmful effects of radiation and, by binding to heavy metals, promotes their elimination,
  • due to its high antioxidant activity, it intervenes in the cellular aging process linked to the theory of free radicals (waste produced by metabolic catabolism which are the main factors in the onset of numerous serious diseases) rejuvenating the tissues with anti-aging activity (skin, hair, nails, muscles),
  • stimulates the immune system,
  • ensures protection of the cardiovascular, visual and joint systems,
  • reduces “nervous hunger” resulting in weight loss,

From a phytotherapeutic point of view chlorophyll it is used for:

  • fight anemia,
  • improve arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis,
  • strengthen the immune system,
  • inhibit chromosomal damage with an action applicable to neoplastic diseases,
  • eliminate germs and inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria,
  • enormously increase the level of oxygen in tissue cells,
  • regulate the hormonal balance of calcium levels in the body,
  • regulate the body's hormonal balance and acid/base ratio (pH),
  • provide a valid supply of vitamin K which plays a fundamental role in the blood clotting process and ensures the functionality of the proteins that form and keep bones in shape,
  • regulate prostate function,
  • perform an antidepressant action.

Finally, the research has identified a group of genes, called cellular oncogenic genes or proto-oncogenes, which exercise regulatory functions of cellular proliferation but, following the specific action of mutagenic agents or chromosomal alteration, can cause damage that leads to to tumor transformation.

There is ongoing research to test the potential of chlorophyll to play a role in the cell's ability to reverse this damage.

The chlorophyll on sale at our herbalist's shop is produced by the " Di Leo Laboratory" and a 50 ml pack on our website www.erboristeriatestaccio.com is sold at a cost of €21.60.

The recommended dosage, in relation to the different syndromes, varies between 20/80 drops per day diluted in water.
