Evening Primrose Oil is a source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid of the Omega-6 series. Essential fatty acids or EFAs are essential nutrients that must be obtained from the diet and are involved in numerous processes within the human body. A proper balance of EFAs is necessary for the normal development of the human body and brain.

Gamma-linolenic acid has anti-inflammatory properties, in fact it is the precursor of prostaglandin PGE1 and thromboxane TXA1 which have an anti-inflammatory action, induce vasodilation and inhibit platelet activity. Evening primrose oil helps maintain hydrated and healthy skin, reduces acne symptoms, combats menstrual cycle disorders and contributes to joint well-being.

AGEs are sensitive to temperature, so vegetable oils containing them should not be cooked or otherwise treated, as heat alters their chemical structure and transforms them into toxic compounds called “lipid peroxides” which are dangerous and damaging radicals.
