The Quince (Cydonia vulgaris Pers.) belongs to the Rosaceae family and probably originates from Persia and Anatolia. Its fruit is very fragrant and has been considered healthy since ancient times.

The Babylonians and Assyrians cultivated it, as did the Greeks who considered it sacred to Aphrodite (Venus) and a symbol of love and fertility. The active ingredients contained in the fruit are numerous and mainly tannins, pectins, mucilages, malic acid, catechins, epicatechins and substances with high antioxidant activity.
